kids craft: ghost lanterns.

A few years ago, in Germany, no one really knew something about Halloween. I only knew about it through my American friends, who sent my family some Halloween decorations. Now, ten years later, Halloween became more and more popular here in Germany. The stores are flooded with costumes and decorations. At this very special night, lots of ghosts, witches and other spooky creatures walk through the streets, shouting "Trick or Treat!" And because of the popularity of the festivity, I planned a Halloween themed crafting idea as an afternoon activity.

 We made scary ghost lanterns.

Material:
  • white tracing paper or sandwhich paper
  • glue
  • one plate
  • pant brush
  • pencil
  • scissors
  • black paper
  • jam jars (but any other jar or glass works too)

As you can see in the pictures above, we started with covering the jars with glue. Then we fixed the sandwhich paper (which we first ripped into pieces) on the glue, covering the paper with another layer of glue. So we continued until the whole jar was covered.

On black paper we drew cats, ghosts, bats, pumpkins...things that we associated with Halloween. We cut the shapes out und sticked them on the jar, covering them with glue as well.

When everything is dry, you can add a tealight and enjoy spooky light and dancing creatures.
It is a simple crafting idea, so even smaller children are able to join in.

Happy Halloween!

Have super fantastic and spooky Halloween night.
Don't let you eat up by hungry ghosts and witches.
